Reaching Millions of Beneficiaries

From 2016 to 2022, the joint efforts of Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" and The End Fund have reached an impressive number of beneficiaries. Approximately 297 million individuals have been impacted, with 114,600,600 receiving treatments, 182,700,000 treatments delivered, 427,400 health workers trained, and 63,900 surgeries performed. This significant outreach reflects the commitment of both organizations to making a tangible difference in global health.

The partnership focuses on 25 countries. These include the Central African Republic, Côte d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Gabon, Kenya, Mali, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Addressing the Challenges of the COVID-19 Pandemic

The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic presented unique challenges. In April 2020, the World Health Organization advised against large-scale gatherings for the distribution of neglected tropical disease treatments. However, Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" and The End Fund refused to be deterred. Instead, they adapted to the situation and sought alternative ways to support local partners and communities during these uncertain times.

A Comprehensive Approach to Tackle COVID-19 and Neglected Tropical Diseases

Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" and The End Fund have joined forces with a shared mission to combat the spread of COVID-19 and neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). To achieve their goals, the partnership has outlined a series of targeted objectives. These include the establishment of handwashing stations to promote essential hygiene practices, the distribution of soap and disinfectants to encourage proper handwashing, and the convening of global health experts and senior government officials to devise effective strategies.

Additionally, the partnership aims to empower youth radio reporters to disseminate crucial health information, display WHO Afro hygiene and handwashing messages on billboards, and provide food assistance to vulnerable populations, ensuring their well-being amidst the pandemic. Through this comprehensive approach, Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" and The End Fund are working diligently to make a meaningful impact in the fight against COVID-19 and NTDs.

Notable Accomplishments

Despite the ongoing challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the collaboration between Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" and The End Fund has achieved remarkable milestones. Nearly 297 million people received NTD treatments across 25 countries. This accomplishment highlights the resilience and dedication of both organizations in reaching those in need, even in the most challenging circumstances.
